Barbara Neis

Barbara Neis (* 1952[1]) ist eine kanadische Soziologin, die an der Memorial University of Newfoundland forscht und lehrt.[2] 2013 wurde sie als Fellow (FRSC) in die Royal Society of Canada (RSC) gewählt und amtierte in der Society von 2022 bis 2025 als Präsidentin der RSC Academy of Social Sciences.[3] Sie ist Member of the Order of Canada (CM).[4]

Neis promovierte 1988 an der University of Toronto im Fach Soziologie und ist ehemalige Präsidentin der Canadian Association for Research on Work and Health. Sie forscht seit über 20 Jahren in multidisziplinären Teams zu sozialen, gesundheitlichen und ökologischen Veränderungen in küstennahen und maritimen Regionen Kanadas.[2]
