Bagrat

Bagrat (armenisch Բագրատ; georgisch ბაგრატ; russisch Баграт) ist ein männlicher Vorname, der insbesondere in Armenien, Georgien und Abchasien verbreitet ist. Der Name leitet sich ursprünglich vom persischen Bagadāta ab, was in etwa „Geschenk Gottes“ bedeutet[1]. Im Mittelalter gab es mit den Armenischen Bagratiden und den Georgischen Bagratiden zwei bedeutende Adelsgeschlechter die den Namen Bagrat trugen.
