Austere ist ein australisches Musikprojekt. Es besteht aus den Multiinstrumentalisten Mitchell „Desolate“ Keepin und Tim „Sorrow“ Yatras, die Musik ist dem Depressive Black Metal zuzuordnen.

Bandgeschichte

Mitchell Keepin betrieb zunächst ein Soloprojekt, bevor 2005 mit Tim Yatras ein zweiter Musiker hinzukam und das Projekt Austere gegründet wurde. Es folgten zwei Studioalben, danach pausierte das Projekt ab 2010 und die beiden Musiker konzentrierten sich auf Solo-Projekte. Ende 2021 wurde bekannt, dass Austere einen Plattenvertrag bei Lupus Lounge, einem Sublabel von Prophecy Productions, unterschrieben hat.[1] Das Duo absolvierte nach Abschluss des Plattenvertrages die ersten Live-Auftritte der Bandgeschichte.[2] Das für 2022 angekündigte dritte Studioalbum erschien 2023, gefolgt von bislang zwei weiteren Alben bei Prophecy Productions.

Tim Yatras ist als Gastmusiker auf dem 2025er Album Scorched Earth der österreichischen Post-Black-Metal-Band Harakiri for the Sky vertreten.
