Das Adjektiv apikal (von lat. apex „Spitze“, apicale, „zur Spitze hin“) bezeichnet:
- in der Anatomie die auf eine Spitze gerichtete Lage oder Richtung, siehe Anatomische Lage- und Richtungsbezeichnungen
- in der Zahnmedizin einen Bezug zur Zahnwurzelspitze, siehe Anatomische Lage- und Richtungsbezeichnungen an den Zähnen
- Foramen apicale, Öffnung an der Wurzelspitze eines Zahnes
- in der Botanik einen Bezug zum Vegetationskegel der Sprossachse und zum Apikalmeristem, das außer im Spross auch in den Wurzeln vorkommt. Siehe auch Apikaldominanz.
- in der Komplexchemie die herausragende Position eines Liganden
- in der Phonetik eine Art der Lautbildung, siehe Apikal (Linguistik)
- bezieht sich auf den Apikalapparat mancher Schlauchpilze am Scheitel des Ascus
