Anthony Byatt

Anthony „Tony“ Byatt (* 23. Februar 1928 in London; † 17. September 2014[1]) war ein britischer Postkartenverleger, Fotograf und Schriftsteller. Byatts Werke decken ein breites Spektrum an Themen ab: Reproduktionen historischer Fotografien und Bildpostkarten,[2][3][4] Bibelübersetzungen,[5] Metaphern im Neuen Testament,[6] Wassersysteme und die Bevölkerung Jerusalems[7][8][9] sowie der menschliche Körper und Kleidung.[10]

Leben

Byatt leitete den Verlag Golden Age Books mit Sitz in Malvern.[11] Seit 1981 war er als Antiquar tätig, und Golden Age Books handelte zudem mit gebrauchten Büchern.[12]

Schriften

1995 veröffentlichte er ein Buch über die Interpretation von Metaphern im Neuen Testament.[6] Im Jahr 2004 veröffentlichten Byatt und andere Autoren, die Zeugen Jehovas sind, die Anthologie Your Word Is Truth (Dein Wort ist Wahrheit). Sie enthält Essays zur Feier des 50-jährigen Jubiläums der Neue-Welt-Übersetzung der Heiligen Schrift (1950, 1953) sowie Beiträge zur Verteidigung dieser Übersetzung gegen Kritik von Nicht-Zeugen.[5][13][14][15] Außerdem umfasst sie eine Bibliografie von Werken über diese Übersetzung.

Als Mitglied der International Society of Bible Collectors (ISBC) war Byatt Mitherausgeber von The Bible Collector, das 1985 in Bible Collectors’ World umbenannt wurde.[16][17]
