Anna Slach

Anna Barbara Katharina Slach, verheiratete Anna Birrenkoven (* 12. November 1855 in Rastatt; † 12. April 1903 in Hamburg[1]), war eine deutsche Opernsängerin (Sopran).

Leben

Anna Slachs Vater war der Regimentskapellmeister Johann Slach (* 1827 in Prag; † 1910 in Hamburg), ihre Mutter Franziska Slach, geb. Werner. Anna Slach hatte entschiedene Erfolge zu verzeichnen, so wirkte zunächst in Magdeburg, am Stadttheater Köln, bis 1879 in Straßburg und daraufhin in Breslau. Anschließend unternahm sie mit der „Damrosch Grand German Opera Company“ eine Tournee nach Amerika, wo sie unter anderem von 1884 bis 1886 an der New Yorker Metropolitan Opera 74 Auftritte hatte.[2] Von 1887 bis 1889 war sie nochmals am Stadttheater von Breslau engagiert und schließlich von 1889 bis 1891 am Stadttheater Düsseldorf. Danach – d. h. nach ihrer Heirat – beendete sie ihre Bühnenkarriere. Sie war als bedeutende Mozart-Sängerin bekannt.[3]

Sie heiratete 1891 in Berlin Wilhelm Birrenkoven[4] und blieb bis zu ihrem Tod seine Ehefrau. Das Paar hatte die Kinder Therese „Resi“ (1894–1954) und Johann „Hans“ (1898–1918) Birrenkoven. Anna Birrenkoven wurde in Köln begraben.[5]
