Aião ist eine Gemeinde (Freguesia) im portugiesischen Kreis Felgueiras. In ihr leben 828 Einwohner (Stand 19. April 2021)[1].

Geschichte

Aião liegt am Fuße des Bergkamms von Santa Marinha und ist eine der traditionell ländlichsten und am weitesten vom Gemeindesitz entfernten Gemeinden, was dazu führte, dass sie bereits zu den alten Gemeinden Santa Cruz de Riba-Tâmega und Unhão gehörte. Es wurde vorrömisch besiedelt, auf dem Crastelo-Plateau neben Pedra Falar, und verdankt seinen Namen den Sueben, da sein Ortsname germanischen Ursprungs in Form von Agilio (Agilion, abweichend vom Anthroponym Agila), der Aion im Jahr 141 und AIAM im Jahr 1220 gab.[3]
