Tetramer

Tetramer (grč. τετρα - tetra = četiri + µέρος meros = dio) je oligomer nastao od četiri monomera ili podjedinice. Osobina povezivanje naziva se tetramerija. Primjer iz anorganske hemije je titan-metoksid sa empirijskom formulom Ti(OCH3)4, koji je u čvrstom stanju tetrameran i ima molekulsku formulu Ti4(OCH3)16.[1] Primjer iz organske hemije je kobofenol A, supstanca koja nastaje kombiniranjem četiri molekula resveratrola.[2][3]

U biohemiji se slično odnosi na biomolekulu formiranu od četiri jedinice koje su jednake (homotetramer, tj. kao u konkanavalinu A ili različite (heterotetramer), tj. kao hemoglobinu. Hemoglobin ima četiri slične podjedinice, dok imunoglobulin imaju dvije vrlo različite podjedinice. Svaka od podjedinica može imati svoju aktivnost, poput vezanja biotina u avidinskim tetramerima, ili imaju zajedničko biološko svojstvo, kao što je alosterno vezanje kisika u hemoglobinu.
