Termosom

Termosom je grupa II šaperonina kompleksni protein koji funkcionira u arhejama. To je homolog eukariotskog CCT. Ovaj šaperonin grupe II je ATP-zavisni šaperonin koji je odgovoran za presavijanje uopće ili presavijanje početnog sastojka ili denaturiranih proteina.[1] Termosom ima dva prstena, od kojih se svaki sastoji od po osam podjedinice, složenih zajedno tako da formiraju cilindrični oblik s velikom šupljinom u središtu.[1] Teakođer je definiran heterooligomernom prirodom.
Budući da je šaperonin grupe II, termosom ima sličnu strukturu kao šaperonini grupe I. Glavna razlika, međutim, je u postojanju spiralne izbočine u termosomu koja se sastoji od ugrađenog poklopca hidrofilne šupljine.[1] Ne samo da je termosom ATP-zavisan, nego mehanizam u kojem se termosom prebacuje iz otvorene u zatvorenu konformaciju također zavisi od temperature. Otvorena konformacija ATP-termosoma postoji uglavnom na niskim temperaturama.[2] Dok se zatvorena konformacija termosoma javlja prilikom zagrijavanja na fiziološku.[2]
