Prodromus

Prodromus (preteča ili prethodnik) zvani prodrom (grč. πρόδρομος – pródromos = onaj/ono koji/koje ide ispred) je termin koji se koristi u prirodnim naukama da opiše preliminarnu publikaciju namijenjenu kao osnova za kasniju, sveobuhvatniji rad.

To je također medicinski izraz koji se koristi za premonitorski simptom, odnosno simptom koji ukazuje na početak bolesti.[1][2]

Poreklo reči je iz 19. stoljeća: preko francuskog od novolatinskog prodromus, od grčkog prodromos = preteča.[3]

De solido intra solidum naturaliter contento dissertationis prodromus Nicolasa Stenoa, jedna je od ranih rasprava koje pokušavaju objasniti pojavu fosila u čvrstoj stijeni.

Latinski prijevod Ludovica Marraccija sa arapskog Kur'ana objavljen je 1698. Njegov 'Uvod' (Prodromus) objavljen je sedam godina ranije.[4] Drugi značajni prodromi uključuju Prodromus Entomology, Prodromus Florae Novae Hollandiae et Insulae Van Diemen, Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis.
