Plač je kapanje suza (ili nakupljanje suza u očima) kao odgovor na emocionalno stanje ili fizičku bol. Emocije koje mogu dovesti do plača uključuju tugu, ljutnju, radost i strah. Plač može biti uzrokovan i olakšanjem od perioda stresa ili anksioznosti ili kao empatični odgovor. Čin plakanja definiran je kao "složen sekretomotorni fenomen koji karakterizira ispuštanje suza iz suznog aparata, bez ikakve iritacije očnih struktura", umjesto toga pružajući olakšanje koje štiti od konjunktivitisa.[1] Srodni medicinski termin je lakrimacija, koji se također odnosi na neemocionalno ispuštanje suza. Različiti oblici plača poznati su kao jecanje, naricanje, cviljenje.[2]
