Narfi

U nordijskoj mitologiji, Narfi (Nörfi, Nǫrfi, Nörr) je otac Nótt,[1] personifikacije noći te dedo Jord ("Zemlja"), Odinove ljubavnice. Gylfaginning (dio Mlađe Edde Snorrija Sturlusona) pominje da je Nótt kćerka jötunna "Nörfija ili Narfija", dok je u Starijoj Eddi ime Nóttinog oca Nörr. Od Narfija potiče slavni bog Thor.

Teorije

Prema teoriji Adolfa Noreena, Narfijevo ime bi moglo značiti "noć". Ime njegovo kćeri doista znači "noć" te se pojavljuje u nordijskoj literaturi i kao opšta imenica. Druga teorija kaže da se Nóttina genealogija, kako ju je predstavio Snorri, zasniva na genealogiji grčke božice Nikte, koja također predstavlja noć. Ta teorija povezuje Narfija sa Erebom.
