IM-2
IM-2 je bila lunarna misija kompanije Intuitive Machines kao dio NASA -inog programa komercijalnih lunarnih usluga prevoza tereta (CLPS).[1][2] Lansirana je 27. februara 2025. u 00:16:30 UTC. Nova-C lunarna letjelica, nazvana Athena, stigla je na površinu Mjeseca 6. marta 2025. u 17:28:50 UTC. Kontakt je privremeno izgubljen tokom procesa slijetanja; kada je ponovo uspostavljen, pokazao je da letjelica nije u ispravnoj orijentaciji, jedna od dvije radio antene ne radi i da letjelica ne proizvodi dovoljno energije. Do 7. marta, Athenina snaga je bila potpuno iscrpljena i nije se očekivalo da će se probuditi, čime je misija završena.[3]
Athena je dizajnirana da istraži prisustvo i količinu lunarnog vodenog leda koristeći PRIME-1, teret koji se sastoji od bušilice i masenog spektrometra. Athena je također nosila Micro Nova Hopper po imenu Grace:[3] dron opremljen neutronskim spektrometrom namijenjen za istraživanje trajno zasjenjenog područja (PSR) kratera Marston, u blizini planiranog mjesta slijetanja. Misija ima za cilj da obezbijedi površinsko mjerenje vodonika u PSR – indikatoru čvrstog vodenog leda.[4][5]
