Uvoz goriva u 2005.

Gorivo je supstanca koja se koristi kao izvor energije. Gorivo daje energiju obično onda kada mu se mijenja fizička ili hemijska struktura. Kada kažemo da goriva oslobađaju energiju mijenjanjem hemijske strukture pri tom se prvenstveno misli na proces sagorijevanja. Još neki od načina za dobijanje energije su nuklearna fisija i nuklearna fuzija.

Važno svojstvo energije dobivene iz goriva je to da može biti skladištena i korištena po potrebi, i to na onim mjestima gdje se ne može proizvesti i u vremenima kada opada njena proizvodnja.
