Emperor je norveški black metal bend iz Notoddenu.[1]
O bendu
Osnovali su ga 1991 Ihsahn (Vegard Tveitan) i Samoth (Tomas Haugen). Upoznali su se u školi i godine 1991 osnovali grupe Thou Shalt Suffer, ali Samoth napustio bend. Iste godine Emperor je osnovan. U februaru 1994 objavili prvi studijaki album In the Nightside Eclipse koji se smatra klasikom black metala. Godine 2001 nakon objavljiavnja albuma Prometheus: The Discipline of Fire & Demise bend je raspušten, ali u narednim godinama se ponovi aktivirao.
