Commelinaceae je porodica cvjetnica iz reda Commelinales, razred Magnoliopsida, divizija Tracheophyta, carstvo Plantae.[1]
Ova porodica monokotiledona, koja ima preko 700 vrsta, [2] imenovana je po tipskom rodu Commelina, sa preko 200 vrsta. To su trajnice padačice, penjačice i puzavice. Neki puzavci su jednogodišnje biljke. Glavno obilježje im je člankovita stabljika koja puže, pada ili se uspinje. Cvjetovi su dvospolni, pojedinačni ili u paštitastim cvastima. Plod je bobica, a
