Protein Alzheimerove bolesti 16 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom AD16.[2] U studiji o genomskim asocijacijama na 844 pacijenta s kasnom pojavom Alzheimerove bolesti i 1.255 kontrola, Carrasquillo et al. (2009) pronašli su vezu između AD i rs5984894 u genu PCDH11X (300246) na hromosomu X, pozicija q21.3. Nalazi su ponovljeni u četiri dodatne serije koje su obuhvatale 1.547 slučajeva i 1.209 kontrola. Odnosi šansi za pogođenost bili su 1,75 za ženske homozigote i 1,26 za ženske heterozigote, u odnosu na ženske nositelje.
