Гэты аб’ект уваходзіць у лік пералічаных у арыгінальнай рэдакцыі «Новага агульнага каталога».

Галактыка была адкрыта рускім астраномам Ота Струвэ[1].

Аб’ект назіраецца з зямлі як цьмяны, круглявай формы. Пры гэтай бачнай зорнай велічыні і нізкай паверхневай яркасці, для назірання гэтага аб’екта патрэбен прынамсі 12-цалевы тэлескоп[2].
