root — імя запісу каранёвага дамена сістэмы даменных імёнаў Інтэрнэту, часам якая выкарыстоўвалася для адладкі. Яе прысутнасць паказвала, што каранёвая даменная зона не ссечана пры загрузцы каранёвым серверам імёнаў.

У 2006 годзе запіс .root была заменены на іншы: vrsn-end-of-zone-marker-dummy-record; і ў тым жа годзе ўведзены зноў. Запіс быў паўторна выдалены пры падрыхтоўцы да ўкаранення падпісанай каранёвай зоны ў 2010 годзе[1][2].
