Sin erschte Schwiizerrekord über 400-Meter-Hürde het er 1978 z Prag bi de Europameischterschafte gschafft mit ere Ziit vo 49.84, wodurch er Viirte worde-n-isch. Im 1980 het er bi de Olympische Spiil z Moskau im Olympiafinal gschtande und bi de Wältmeischterschafte 1983 z Göteborg und bi de Olympische Spiil 1984 z Los Angeles het er de Halbfinal erreicht.
