Karier

Sometani tampil dalam film 2011 Shinji Aoyama Tokyo Park.[5]

Pada 2011, ia meraih Penghargaan Marcello Mastroianni untuk Aktor Muda Baru Terbaik di Festival Film Venesia karena karyanya dalam Himizu bersama dengan co-bintangnya Fumi Nikaidō.[6]

Ia tampil dalam film 2012 Koji Wakamatsu The Millennial Rapture,[7] dan membintangi dalam film 2012 Gakuryu Ishii Isn't Anyone Alive?[8]
