PolitiFact.com adalah sebuah proyek nirlaba yang dioperasikan oleh Poynter Institute di St. Petersburg, Florida, dengan kantor-kantor yang ada disana dan di Washington, D.C. Proyek tersebut dimulai pada 2007 sebagai proyek dari Tampa Bay Times (saat itu St. Petersburg Times), dengan para wartawan dan penyunting dari surat kabar tersebut dan mitra-mitra media berita terafiliasinya yang melaporkan soal keakuratan pernyataan yang dibuat oleh para pejabat terpilih, staf mereka, pelobi, kelompok berkepentingan dan pihak lain yang terlibat dalam politik Amerika Serikat.[2]
