Hemimetabolisme

Hemimetabolisme atau paurometabolisme,[1] yang lebih umum dikenal sebagai metamorfosis tidak sempurna, adalah sebuah jenis perkembangan pada beberapa serangga yang mencakup tiga tahapan: telur, nimfa dan tahapan dewasa, atau imago. Kleompok-kelompok ini melalui perubahan-perubahan secara perlahan (gradual); tidak adalah tahap pupa. Nimfa umumnya emmiliki eksoskeleton tipis dan menyerupai tahap dewasa tetapi tidak memiliki sayap dan organ reproduksi yang fungsional.[2] Karena instar dewasanya tidak mengalami penggantian kulit lebih lanjut, serangga hemimetabolis dibedakan dengan takson-takson ametabolis.[3]
