Gunnera perpensa adalah spesies tumbuhan dalam genus Gunnera yang berasal dari sebagian besar wilayah Afrika bagian timur dan selatan, mulai dari Sudan ke selatan hingga Afrika Selatan, dan juga ditemukan di Madagaskar.[1] Tumbuhan ini merupakan tumbuhan lahan basah herba menahun yang tumbuh hingga setinggi 1 m, dengan daun berbentuk ginjal yang memiliki tepi tidak beraturan dengan lobus dan gerigi.[2]
Spesies ini merupakan spesies tipe dari genus Gunnera.[3]
