Ephedra strobilacea adalah spesies dari Ephedra yang berasal dari Iran dan Asia Tengah (Afganistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan).[2]

Tanaman ini tumbuh pada ketinggian 700–2.500 meter (2.300–8.200 ft).[3]

Taksonomi

Spesies ini pertama kali dideskripsikan oleh Alexander G. von Bunge pada tahun 1852 dan ditempatkan dalam seksi Alatae, tribus Tropidolepides oleh Otto Stapf pada tahun 1889. Pada tahun 1996, Robert A. Price tetap menempatkan E. strobilacea dalam seksi Alatae tanpa mengakui adanya tribus.[4]
