Nelsonioideae[1][2][3] là một phân họ trong họ Acanthaceae, với sự phân bố rộng khắp vùng nhiệt đới và ôn đới ấm.[3][6]

Trong quá khứ, Nelsonioideae từng được đặt trong họ Scrophulariaceae nghĩa rộng (sensu lato),[7][8] hoặc được coi là "trung gian" giữa Scrophulariaceae và Acanthaceae.[3]
