Compsanthias là một chi cá biển thuộc họ Anthiadidae. Chi này được lập ra bởi Anthony C. Gill vào năm 2024.

Từ nguyên

Từ compsanthias được ghép bởi hai âm tiết trong tiếng Hy Lạp cổ đại: kompsós (κομψός; "trang nhã, tinh tế") và anthias (xem Anthias, chi điển hình của Anthiadidae), hàm ý đề cập đến màu sắc nổi bật và hình thái uyển chuyển của hai loài trong chi này.[1]

Phân loại

A. ventralis và A. hawaiiensis trước đây được xếp vào chi Pseudanthias. Compsanthias được phân biệt với các chi khác trong họ nhờ các đặc điểm sau:[2]

  • Vây lưng: 10 gai, 16–18 tia
  • Vây hậu môn: 3 gai, 9–10 tia
  • Vây ngực: trung bình 15 tia
  • Đường bên: 39–46 vảy ống
