Макрелеобразные[1], или скумбриеобразные[2] (лат. Scombriformes) — отряд лучепёрых рыб, в состав отряда включают 16 семейств в двух подотрядах[3].

Описание

Тело веретенообразное или лентообразное, покрытое мелкой чешуёй или грубыми костными пластинками. Иногда тело голое[1].

Палеонтология

Наиболее древние остатки представителей отряда, относимые к роду Landanichthys, найдены в отложениях среднего палеоцена Анголы[4].

Значение

К макрелеобразным относятся такие важные в промысловом отношении рыбы как скумбрия, тунец и макрель.
