Korundo
Korundo (de la sanskrita koruvinda) (Al2O3) estas mineralo formita de oksido de aluminio.
Ĝi troviĝas en naturo sub formo de kristaloj kaj iom malpli kiel vulkanaj rokaĵoj.
Ties dureco estas de 9 laŭ la Mohs-skalo, kaj estas la mineralo uzata kiel referenco por tiu malmoleco.
Ĝi havas densecon de 3,9 ĝis 4,1 g/cm3
Ĝi aperas laŭ granda varieco de koloroj laŭ ties malpuraĵoj ekzemple: senkolora, blanka, bruna, viola, verda, flava, blua aŭ ruĝa. Ties brilo estas vitreca.
La ruĝa varianto, konata kiel rubeno, kaj la blua, konata kiel safiro, estas konsiderata kiel noblaj gemoj.
Korundo estas uzata por juvelarto kaj en industrio de precizeco.
