Haliktedoj (Halictidae) estas la dua plej granda familio de "Apoidea" abeloj.[1] Haliktedaj specioj estas tra la tuta mondo[2] kaj estas kutime malhel-koloraj kaj ofte metalecaj laŭ aspekto. Kelkaj specioj estas tute aŭ parte verdaj kaj kelkaj estas ruĝaj; nombraj el ili havas flavajn markilojn, speciale la maskloj, kiuj ofte havas flavajn vizaĝojn, modelo tre disvastigita inter la variaj familioj de abeloj. Tiu familio estas distingebla pro la arkeca (tre kurba) baza vejno trovebla en la flugilo[3].

La plej oftaj abeloj en la Norda Hemisfero estas la Haliktedoj aŭ ŝvitabeloj, sed ili estas tre malgrandaj kaj ofte estas erare miskomprenitaj kiel vespoj aŭ muŝoj.
