Amalgamo

Amalgamo estas solida aŭ likva kunmiksaĵo (alojo) de hidrargo kun alia metalo. La alkalaj metaloj formas amalgamon facile kun la hidrargo.

Oni faras ĝin el la malpli facile amalgamantaj metaloj per elektrolita metodo, kiam oni elektrolizas la solvaĵon de la metala salo per hidrarga katodo. Tiam la deponiĝanta metalo formas amalgamon.

Oni amalgamizas surfacon de nenobla metalo, ke oni trempas ĝin en likvaĵon de hidrarga salo.

Oni volas malpermesi la uzadon de amalgamo en la EU kiel plombon (dentoŝtopaĵon), kvankam fakspertuloj asertas ties nedanĝerecon.

En Norvegio la uzado estas malpermesata ekde la 1-a de januaro 2008.
