This lines history dates back to the mid 1800s when the line was built. The line was built to service trains in Iowa with many connections to other lines obviously more then than now. This line also has as needed Ethanol/Grain from the CPKC with the symbols K45 and K46 local trains from Mason City to Hartley and back. They will often start as CPKC 500 series symbols coming from various origins in the USA. This line has many good spots for pictures of trains. You can find many great photography locations on this line. Too bad not too many people document this line likely due to the lack of train traffic.
