THE ORDER OF THE TWISTED HAIR

Members of the Order of the Twisted Hair or the Twisted Hair Lodge consider themselves to be direct servants of the Light, the Secret Fire, The Eternally Nameless, The Great Mystery etc. They believe in one true God and they are connected to the idea that there is also a goddess or goddesses. Their beliefs are based on Native American spirituality and ancient Christian beliefs. An Apprentice is one that has just been asked to join (all have to be asked) and the Apprentice then begins their 7 steps process to becoming an member. The 7th and final step in becoming a Twisted Hair is by invitation only. The steps consist of an Apprentice, a Journeyman, The Ferryman, The Gatekeeper, The Wizard, The Sage and then on to becoming a Twisted Hair. The Order is not necessarily a secret organization but it is an organization that has secrets. Their rings will have a Chi Rho on one side and on the other side will be a Native American medicine wheel with a Rose and stem going North to South and a Key from East to West. The top of the ring will be a black Onyx or one of their symbols such as the Chi Rho or the rose/key circle of life engraved on the top with no stone and they may have “In Deo Spearamus”( In God we hope) or simply IDS or “jeova sanctus unus”( one true God) engraved on the inside of the ring. The ring will always be silver never gold. A true Twisted Hair will never wear anything gold. Members hold to the idea that the love of gold has caused the destruction of many indigenous people and to wear it is disrespectful to the spirits of those lost because of it. Giving up the wearing of gold is one of the steps in becoming a member. The Red Rose represents the Native American Red Path and the thorns on the rose stem indicate that walking that pathway is difficult.The symbol of the Rose has another meaning but that seems to be kept secret. The Key from East to West represents the key to the kingdom or the key that unlocks the door to enlightenment. It is the key to the library that houses the books that contain the Ancient Mysteries. The key faces the East to indicate each day as the sun rises you can unlock a new day of enlightenment and knowledge. The circle represents the circle of life and that all things are in a circle. The seasons go around in a circle, the earth rotates in a circle, life is a circle, the circle is sacred.

How long have there been Twisted Hair and who founded the group is currently not public information. One must be an American born citizen, believe in one true God and adhere to the rules and regulations of the order forever to be and remain a member.
