Steve O’Donnell is CIO at Arthur J Gallagher, a global Insurance Broker. He has nearly 4 decades of global high technology experience. He was Transformation Director at Wolseley, (Fergusson plc), a FTSE 30 firm in the Construction Industry. Prior to that, he was CIO at G4S plc, a global security manpower firm. He was CTO at Amlin a UK based insurance business.

He was Chairman & CEO at GreenBytes Inc (acquired by Oracle), a manufacturer of storage software software. He was CEO at MEEZA, a Qatar Foundation Joint Venture, Managing Director at Milford MA-based, analyst firm ESG, Global Head of Data Centre Operations at British Telecom (BT) and has held senior positions at Cable & Wireless, Lehman Brothers, and Deutsche Bank. He spends his time serving on fiduciary and advisory boards around the world. Currently he is Chairman of the Board at Lanix Limited, Digital Control Room, a digital privacy firm based in London and KSBC plc. He is Chair of the Advisory Board at Eco4Cloud SARL of Italy. Steve is the author of "What Every CIO Wants - a guide for high technology salespeople" and is credited as the initiator of the Green Grid Data Center Maturity Model (DCMM), now well on it's way to becoming an ISO standard for data center efficiency and best practice.

He is recognised as an expert in green IT and sustainability having won six industry awards including the British Computer Society best use of green technology award in 2007. He has served as a spokesperson for the IEEE on Cloud and IT Security and regularly hosts conferences and webcasts on these subjects. He is an accomplished speaker and moderator as well as an analyst and commentator in how high technology impacts business. He is an active angel investor and business leader, working in Solid State Storage, IT Security, Smart Grid, Sustainability, Data Centre cooling technology and the IT Services sector.

Steve is an inventor and holds a number of patents in the data center liquid cooling area. In 1999 one of the companies he led as CEO won a Fast 50 special award from Deloitte & Touche for rapid company growth. Steve is a entrepreneur, and a global businessman. He has successful experience in six trade sales, two MBOs and an IPO.
