Nze Samuel and Lolo Caroline Dimude: A great couple and a model of married life.

Samuel Chukwudum Dimude of Umuezeuda clan of Umueleke village and Caroline Nkemhuruanya Dimude Nee Ezeonu of Umuezeomara clan of Umuezeiyi both hailed from Achina in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State in Nigeria. Samuel Dimude was born in 1930 and Caroline Dimude was born in 1936. Both having been sick for some years, Caroline died first on the 8th day of February 2004 and Samuel died on the 2nd day of April 2004 (55 days later). Samuel and Caroline were not just Christians but were, as a matter of fact, staunch Catholic Christians. Samuel's father, Thomas Nwaru Dimude was the first Catechist of Achina Catholic Community. Samuel's mother was Janet from Umumilo village in Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Caroline's father Ezeonu, was an adherent of African Traditional Religion who converted to Christianity at the evening time of his life much to the delight of the young Caroline who had become an enthusiastic and zealous Christian. Ezeonu chose George as his baptismal name. Caroline's mother was Ukaegboahu Nee Nnaka. Caroline was the last born of Ezeonu in his polygamous family and was the closest child to her father even to his death. At the advent of Christianity in Achina, Ezeonu in acknowledgement of the good works of the missionaries especially in the areas of education, moral teachings and health, easily consented to his last born, Nkemhuruanya, joining the new ‘Whiteman’s religion’.

The union of Samuel and Caroline produced a total of seven children. Though two out of the seven died, the surviving children are Uchenna Calista Uzuegbu Nee Dimude (the first child and the only girl), Chukwuemeka Francis Dimude, Ikechukwu Fidelis Dimude, Okechukwu Valentine Dimude (Rev. Fr), and Izuchukwu Samuel Dim (Rev. Fr). The third child, Chigozie (male), was born in 1968 and he died a few months after; the last child was stillbirth. Thomas and Janet gave birth to two children: Samuel and Grace. Both did not really know the identity of their father who died while they were still very young. The much about Thomas that came to be known was through his strong - charactered wife, Janet, and other contemporaries of Thomas. After the death of Thomas, Janet bore three more children for Thomas, a practice that was not just allowed but was also encouraged so to speak by the tradition and culture of the time. Hence, Thomas Jr, Christiana and Jonas also became Samuel's younger ones.
