Ryan John Phillips was born on July 8th 1975 in North Vancouver British Columbia Canada. He played Junior hockey in the W.H.L for the Tacoma Rockets and the Regina Pats. He also played professional hockey in Wichita Kansas for the Wichita Thunder, the Nashville Nighthawks, Topeka Scarecrows of the Central Hockey League. He also spent time playing in Louisiana for the Monroe Moccasins and Waco Wizards of the Western Professional Hockey League. He spent time in a Federal Detention Center for 16 months for conspiracy to distribute a 100 pounds of marijuana in the year 2000. 

He is now a film maker and humanitarian. He is the founder of Return to Happiness, where he shares his views and advice on how to better your life. He's made it his life mission to turn his mostly self inflicted adversities to help others. website Returntohappiness.com

The documentary film Return To Happiness is set for release in the summer 2012, shot mostly in Southeast Asia in the countries of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. The film is focused on inspiring people. A bike ride was part of the film where Ryan and nineteen others rode from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The riders sole purpose was to raise money and awareness towards human trafficking and sex slavery for the Somaly Mam Foundation. The film also touches on the rebuilding and positive change of the 2004 Tsunami. The film integrates Ryan Phillips' life story into this action packed adventure.
