Assignment Due Week 4:
I read the Wikipedia article "Johns Hopkins School of Medicine" and left comments on things that could be changed/added to enhance the article.
As for topics of interest I am considering doing for my final project, these are my current ideas:
-Discuss the impact that the Flexner Report had on the Johns Hopkins Medical School (e.g. financially, in terms of reputation, etc.)
-The evolution of surgery at Johns Hopkins and its impact on surgery around the world
-The evolution of patient care in terms of diagnosis, living spaces, and treatment
-Hopkins' effect on quality of medical education
[Any comments or advice on these topics would be greatly appreciated]
Second edit was to the article: "Isabel Hampton Robb"
-Current topics for the final project include either Vivien Thomas or Isabel Hampton, but most likely the latter.
Assignment Due Week 5:
"Vivien Thomas" (Relations with Blalock) Article Edit
Tension with Blalock continued to build when he failed to recognize the contributions that Thomas had made in the world-famous blue baby procedure, which led to a rift in their relationship. Thomas was absent in official articles about the procedure, as well as in team pictures that included all of the doctors involved in the procedure.
Citation: Thomas, Vivien. "Mr. Vivien Thomas Discusses Dr. Alfred Blalock." p. 21.
