Robert Brown

Robert Brown (born 1978) is an Australian Media Consultant.

Career

Robert started his media career in television in 1998 as a Television Director for Sky Racing (TAB Corp).


He joined Sky News Australian in 2002 as a Television Director where he directed a variety of live television events such as:

2003 Waterfall Train Disaster with 100,000 viewers tuning in every 30 minutes and 1.1 million viewers for the week.

2003 Journey to Baghdad war on Iraq (Sky News had over 1.48 million viewers for the first two weeks).

2004 Australian Federal Election Live from the tally room in Canberra, (more than 615,000 Australians tuned in).

2005 Sentencing of Schapelle Corby. Robert designed and pioneered the use of an innovative split screen, this set a standard and was reproduced by network channels. The coverage won an Astra Award for Most Outstanding News Program or Coverage.

2005 Asian Tsunami Disaster, (over 1.5 million viewers tuned in for the continuing coverage. From Monday the 27th of December to Saturday the 1st of January more than 800,000 Australians watched Sky News each day).

2006 Beaconsfield mine collapse and subsequent rescue.


In 2007 Robert would become the Channel Director for the Sky News Business Channel. He led the project team to launch the Business Channel in early 2008. The business Channel was Australia’s first dedicated 24 hour business news channel. Under Roberts leadership The Business Channel would go on to win an Astra Award in 2008 for the “Most Outstanding News Program or Coverage - Global Financial Crisis”.


Robert left Sky News in 2010 to join Earth Hour Global in 2011 as the Global Head of Media. Earth Hour is a Sydney lead global initiative run by the WWF, Earth Hour is in 135 countries and has a global reach of 1.8 billion people. As the Global Head of Media Robert worked on the "I Will If You Will" campaign. The campaign was about building incentivised actions and creating social capital to help establish a sustainable future, the campaign would involve millions of people across all social media platforms the "I Will If You Will" campaign was a worldwide creative platform where activists, celebrities and corporations alike literally dare their fans to save the planet.


In 2012 Robert joined Curran Digital under the umbrella of the recruitment firm Curran + Associates. He was brought in as a Digital Marketing Consultant to provide Social Media Strategy for the launch of Curran Digital.
