Tommy Black is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur and businessman also known as the bass guitarist for lead singer, Scott Weiland. Black, based in Los Angeles, CA, is also the general manager of the Sunset Strip nightclub, Viper Room, in Hollywood, CA.
Music Career
Tommy Black moved to Los Angeles with his band Gutter Cats in ???, at the time also playing bass for Andy McCoy of Hanoi Rocks. Black found instant success in Los Angeles and quickly found himself singing background vocals on Iggy Pop's Brick by Brick as well as finding success playing in Sparkler (singed to Erving Azoff’s label - being label mates with Brian Wilson and Kenny Wayne Shepherd), playing in Goldenstate and playing for Miranda Lee Richards (Virgin). Black has also completed projects with Paul Oakenfield, written and recorded with Daniel Ash of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, playing with Jim Jones and Tantric as well as Zoe Bonham and Inner Lorre of The Nymphs.
Black is a member of Los Angeles based rock band, Paloalto (band), produced by Rick Rubin, performing on the Carson Dailey show as well as touring with the likes of Johnny Marr (Smiths), the Sounds, John Squire from Stone Roses, Soundtrack of Our Lives and Super Grass.

Performing with Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts, Black has toured the world as well as featured on live performances on Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno. He has also co-wrote and recorded on many of the Wildabouts songs.
Viper Room
Now the General Manager of the iconic Viper Room, Tommy Black has worked at the Viper Room for over 20 years, having first performed there with his band Paloalto. After multiple performances, he eventually joined the club as an employee.

Tommy is now the General Manager of the Viper Room and has seen the club through some of its most recent successes, including hosting performances with the Jonas Brothers, Kid Laroi, and other notable acts as well as video shoots for Bruno Mars and Ed Sheehan. The venue also successfully hosts local bands and acts nightly and is a hub for the Los Angeles music scene.
Having navigated the club through the tough waters of Covid, Black has ensured that the Viper Room has remained the premiere Rock n Roll entertainment venue in Los Angeles, CA.
Music Licensing
Tommy Black has successfully written songs that have been licensed to many TV shows and ads including Aaron Spelling shows and the OC Pepsi commercial.
