Career: His interests and inspirations; Science fiction is his favorite genre. He prepares for roles with videotapes, reading, and listening to music (jazz). Nat Cole King is his biggest inspiration when it comes to singing.

Voice acting: David won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance twice: for his work in Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson in 2005, and for his work in The War in 2008. David also won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Narrator for his narration in Jackie Robinson, becoming the first African American to win this award.

David has voiced Husk in the animated series Hazbin Hotel. Film and television: In 2022, David was cast as Hershel for the Netflix mini-series From Scratch. His performance won him the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Television Movie, Limited-series or Dramatic Special.

Personal life: During the COVID-19 pandemic, David pursued spiritual exploration and enrolled in seminary courses, an experience he has cited as informing his portrayal of Bishop James Greenleaf in the Oprah Winfrey Network drama series Greenleaf.

Early Life& Education: He did a lot early on in life. Since he did things like the city-wide all boys' choir and was attending Manhattan's High School of Performing Arts; He built a foundation for his artistic development and where he first learned his love for music.

Attending Julliard served as a stepping stone for his career, where he transformed his artistic passion to a high-skill set.  David has noted that the training he received taught him how to work and persevere, where emphasized practical skills that helped him stay employed for a plethora of projects such as film, television, and voice acting. career section: After graduating, David went on to soon be hired by Joseph Papp. He undertook and understudy for the role of Tullus Aufidius in William Shakespear's "Coriolanus". His work there jumpstarted his lengthy career.[1]

Keith David has had a lengthy and varied career in voice acting spanning film, television, and games. His earliest and most prolific voice acting roles were in animation. In the 90’s he voiced the character Mama in the English dub of 3×3 Eyes. Along with Goliath from Gargoyles, the titular character in Spawn, and Apollo the Sun God in Hercules. In the English dub of Princess Mononoke he was the narrator and Okkoto the boar god. In the early 2000’s he featured in smaller more episodic roles as a lone council member in Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, the lone renegade male gorilla Tublat in The The Legend of Tarzan, Despero in the “Hearts and Minds” episode of Justice League, Atlas from the Teen Titans episode “Only Human”, the clone of BeBe Proud in the The Proud Family Movie, and Tombstone in The Spectacular Spider-Man episode “Survival of the Fittest”. In 2009 David voiced the Black Cat in Coraline and Dr. Facilier in The Princess and the Frog. in the 2010’s would mainly feature in cartoons and TV shows. He was the Flame King in Adventure Time and Lemuael Kane in Archer. David has a recurring role as the President of the United States in Rick and Morty. He voiced the superhero gorilla Solovar in the Gorilla City Episode of the The Flash. Also, King Andrias in Amphibia. Another recurring role David had was as Mister Bones in Stargirl. His latest voice acting role is as Brian Robertson in the continued King of the Hill.

David’s foray into video game voice acting comes not long after his start in television. His role would come as the crime boss Decker in the role-playing video game Fallout. Two years later he would voice Vhailor in Planescape: Torment. David would have a recurring role as the Arbiter in Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Halo 5: Guardians. After Halo 2 David would make his debut into the Saints Row series as Julius Little. A role he would reprise in Saints Row 2 and Saints Row 4. He would play the role of Captain David Anderson in the BioWare's Mass Effect series. He had smaller roles as the Decepticon Barricade in Transformers: The Game and Sergeant Foley in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. David would return to Spawn once again as a playable version of the character in Mortal Kombat 11. David would would make his debut in the Destiny franchise by becoming the new voice of Commander Zavala debuting in Destiny 2: The Final Shape after the passing of Lance Reddick.

David has been a narrator in numerous documentaries and has won critical acclaim and awards for his work. In the late 90’s David would lend his talents voicing Police Detective Alex Cross in audiobook versions of three novels: Cat and Mouse, Pop Goes the Weasel, and Roses are Red by James Patterson. Soon after David would work with documentary filmmaker Ken Burns narrating Burns’ Jazz. He would lend his voice for several other projects from Burns such as Mark Twain, Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson, The War, the latter two of which earned David Emmy awards for Outstanding Voice Over Performance. His other work with Burns includes narrating the biographies of Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and Leonardo da Vinci.

Outside of his work with Burns David replaced Paul Winfred as the narrator for the A&E show City Confidential in 2004 and the narration of the History Channel series Crescent & the Cross and The Bible. He has also narrated sport documentaries including the MLB Network special “Mr Padre” and WWE’s “The Monday Night War”.
