Dr. Natale A. Sicuro

Dr.Sicuro is a retired college and university president.After retiring in 1993, he and his wife Linda moved to their home in Palm Desert, California, where they reside to this day, July 10,2015.

Dr.Sicuro was born July 19, 1934, in Warren, Ohio. He attended St. Mary School 12 years, graduating in June 1952. He attended Marquette University on a football scholarship. He injured his left knee in Spring practice 1953, ending his football career. He was invited by basketball coach Tex Winter to try out,making it to the final cut. He tried again with new coach Jack Nagle in 1953-54, but the same injury occurred.He left Marquette for Kent State University, again in 1953 but another injury ended his athletic career.

He began working his way through college as a mailman in the Warren Post Office, graduating from Kent State in 1957.He won a US Public Health Department scholarship to the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and was awarded the Master's in Public Health in 1958.

Dr.Sicuro taught biology, Spanish, and physical education and coached football, basketball, and track at Cardinal Mooney high school, Youngstown, Ohio;Ashland, Ohio,high school; Randolph, Ohio high school; and Orange, Ohio high school. He became a graduate assistant at Kent State and received the first Ph.D. in the history of the university in 1964.

Dr.Sicuro served as assistant superintendent of schools, Geauga County, Ohio,1964-65, and assistant dean of regional campuses,1965-1968, Kent State University. He moved to the private sector as manager of accounting and consulting firm Peat Marwick Mitchell's far west region in Los Angeles, 1968-1970. He returned to Kent State as dean of continuing education and associate provost for medical affairs at Kent, helping to establish the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, a consortium of Kent State, Youngstown State, and the University of Akron.He was named president of Southern Oregon State College in 1979, which later became Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon. He became president of Portland State University in 1986 and president of Roger Williams University in 1989. He was the founding president of the Roger Williams University Law School in 1991, serving concurrently as president of the university.

Dr. Sicuro and his wife Linda are the parents of Michael Sicuro, financial executive, Austin, Texas, Chris Sicuro Fouty, occupational therapist, Seattle, WA., and Dr. Paul Sicuro, radiologist, Viginia Mason Medicaal Center, Seattle. They have four grandchildren, Natalie Sicuro Fouty, a junior at Loyola University, Chicago, Daniel Fouty, entering University of Arizona, Abbey Sicuro and Jody Sicuro of Sammamish, WA.

In 1993,he retired to Palm Desert, California, where he resides with his wife Linda, a retired school nurse.
