Inside This Peace is a 2019 documentary film directed and produced by American-Vietnamese filmmaker Linh Nga. The film won Award Of Merit at the Impact DOCS Awards 2019 and named Best Feature Documentary at California Women's Film Festival 2019. It premiered at the 2019 California Women's Film Festival on January 08, 2019.[2][3] [4] [5] [6]

Synopsis

"Inside This Peace" focuses on a life of an agent orange victim, Thoa Nguyen, living in Vietnam and struggling to survive. Thoa Nguyen born with huge black patches all over her body. The sharp hairs grow from the patches, and she also suffers from many lumps filled with fluid that cannot drain. For decades, Thoa and her family struggling to live in Vietnam, and have been searching for the support from Vietnamese government, but no one cares about her.[7][8]

Background

In the Vietnam War, the US government started the Operation Ranch Hand from 1962 to 1971, sprayed millions gallons of herbicides and defoliant dioxin-Agent Orange across Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and other parts of Asia. The US government was aimed at destroying crops and food sources to Viet Cong soldiers. However, the unintended consequence was that more than 4 million Vietnamese people were exposed to the toxic chemical.[9] [10]

Release

The film was premiered at the 2019 California Women's Film Festival on January 8, 2019. It will be shown in Vietnam and other parts of United States including Orange County, Los Angeles, and Texas in 2019.[11]
