Jennifer Gaytan

Jennifer Gaytan is a young political scientist from Southern California. She was born in Hollywood, California and primarily grew up in Southern California's Inland Empire. She is an alumni of the University of California Riverside where she received her degree in Political Science with special emphasis in International Affairs. At the age of 19, she left to study International affairs and foreign policy in Ankara, Turkey's prestigious private Bilkent University. While studying abroad in Turkey she was able to discover and explore neighboring countries such as Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian territories and the Greek Island of Kos. Her travels throughout the Middle East region left a profound impact on her and inspired her to pursue advanced study of political science. Her research interests within the field include International affairs, comparative politics, foreign policy, and most interesting to her, politics of the Middle East. Following acceptance into the French Ministry of Education's Teaching Assistantship Program she moved to Paris, France for 6 months in order to teach English and become further fluent in French before applying to graduate school. She is currently learning Arabic and wishes to pursue a career within the federal government or in academia.
