I am user:jaxsonjo (Jackson Harding) The name comes from our very first email address, shared with my wife Jo, and an ISP in days long gone who insisted on only one mailbox and no more than 8 characters in a user name. It's sort of stuck.

I am a 45 y.o. physician in Australia, specialising in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. I have interests in total intravenous anaesthesia, anaesthesia for cardiac patients having non-cardiac surgery, regional anaesthesia and aeromedical evacuation. I am involved in trauma care, both in hospital and pre-hospital and I am an EMST/ATLS instructor. I also instruct on the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient Course (CCrISP)

I have a long and eclectic list of hobbies and interests, my main hobby is aviation, when I can't fly a real plane I spend far too much time playing with flight simulator. I am also interested in travel, railways, cartography, geocaching and bushwalking.

I have long had an interest in psuedo-science and similar myths. Back in the bad old days of dial up and FidoNet Bulletin boards I moderated the SKEPTIC echomail group for a while.

I also have an interest in military history, my current pet topic is the conflicts in Ireland from the Fenian revolt until the present day, bought on by my first visit to Ireland where my maternal grandfather originated from. I've also been a student of the American Civil War (yes there is meant to be a family connection with Stonewall, but we've never been able to track it down) and Australia's contribution to The Great War.
