The Junior Prom Putters (or JPP) is a golf team formed in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The JPP is a team in the Thursday Night Golf League at Reeves Golf Course, one of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's seven courses. They are the two time defending champion of the TNGL, completing their most recent championship season with a 42-32 victory over Average Joes on August 28,2008. The current members of the team are Brian Murphy, John Schrantz, Brendan Crockett, and Dave Heimbach. Former team members left the team after the first championship season of 2007. Brian Murphy and John Schrantz are the founders of the team and have been called the Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen of the TNGL.
History
Brian Murphy and John Schrantz, BFFs who enjoy beard-snuggling, joined a Thursday Night Golf League in 2007 with some friends. The golf league held its competitions at Reeves Golf Course at Lunken Country Club, one of the most challenging courses in the Columbia-Tusculum area. Feeling that their team needed some notoriety, and in an attempt to spice up league play, they began billing themselves as the JPP, viewing themselves as the "Bad Boys" of the league. The rest of the league was annoyed and frustrated with the smack talking, but could do nothing about it, as Brian, John, and their two teammates cruised to the league title. Thus, the legend of the JPP was born.
2008 Season
Following their 2007 championship season, Brian and John were looking to bring the team back together for a chance to defend their title. However, Win and Mike did not return to the league, so Brian and John were temporarily split up. Following the preseason rounds, Brian ended up as one of the team captains, and selected John with his first pick, reuniting the team and ensuring the continued domination of the JPP. They continued their draft and selected Brendan Crockett with their next pick, who had been instrumental in constructing some of the propaganda used to antagonize the rest of the league in 2007. Brendan was also responsible for the embroidering of the official JPP uniform, and he finished the 2008 season as the leading money winner in the league. The final member of the team was Dave Heimbach, who was skeptical at first about joining a team of renegades and didn't fully embrace what it meant to be a part of something special. Eventually, he realized that no matter how hard he fought it, it was a time and age of renegades and came on board.
Feeling that having just a team name and propaganda wasn't enough, the JPP created a theme for their 2008 season, drawing off of many musical tours. Representing both the thuggish nature of the team along with their alternative roots, the theme was Jizzle on your Pizzle 2008 SEX Magic Tour.
2009 Season
Having won the championship in 2008, the JPP will be able to return in full force, as their team will not be broken up or subjected to the draft in the way that the other inferior teams will. They are possibly looking to add a fifth member to the crew depending on the way the TNGL decides to proceed with the league structure.
Drawing inspiration from the 2008 album Paper Trail by rap artist T.I., they chose "Swagga Like Us" as the overriding theme for their 2009 season. This selection truly exemplifies the confidence of the JPP in their abilities.
