Shane Michael Little (born May 29, 1988),[1] better known by his stage name Shane, is an American rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur and active duty service member. He has put out 2 successful mix tapes and is rumored to be releasing another one before the end of 2012 with his recording group IVY />
Early life
Originally from Coatesville PA, a small urban city in Pennsylvania, Shane was like any other ordinary kid growing up in the hood. After his mother joined the US Army, Shane moved with his grandmother to Reading, PA. Where he fell in love with music.
Although he currently has a passion for music now, Shane wasn't always so deep into it right away. He had an overwhelming love for basketball, its been stated that he once played basketball from 6 AM - 8 PM, which caused him to become dehydrated and sick from lack of food. Shane eventually made it to college, a small D3 school in Pittsburgh, PA called La Roche College. After a year at school he ventured off and joined the US Air Force, which he still currently serves in. This is where Shane was really introduced into the world of music. He began freestyling, writing lyrics, and followed the music of many artists popular at the time. In his base, Little was known as "S Dot", a nickname that eventually developed into his showbiz/stage name, which he eventually dropped after the release of his second mix tape entitled, Desert Music[2]
Shane's lyrical abilities quickly gained him popularity. His quick wit and "off the top" metaphorical style of rapping made him a fan favorite. He prides him self on taking a "slightly different approach" to his songs, making sure that anything he puts down on paper is able to be proven. He says "I can't rap about Lamborghini's since i dont have one, i dont speak about selling drugs any more because i am not into that, i rap what i know"
Music career
2008-09: Grape Soda Mixtape
From the beginning of his music career, Shane began writing about what he knew. Any situation that he encountered became lyrics to a song. In his first mixtape, Shane wrote aboout his experiences in the military, some being within his own chain of command, others being about life back home before the uniform. Shane is credited for being able to remix any song within a matter of hours and making it into a hit. In his song entitled "trouble" he remixed Jay Z's song and added his own feelings in regards to a certain individual who outranked him. Since then he has gone on to create over 100 songs, all of which being hits amongst the public.
2011-12: Desert Music, the mind of me
While deployed overseas, Shane created and recorded a mixtape called "Desert Music". In this mixtape it is said that this is the mixtape that proved his maturity as an individual as well as his maturity as an artist. Shane wrote about experiences he's had while overseas, from relationships to sight seeing to activities performed over there. His story telling abilities have evolved twofold. He is able to tell a story while using other abstract phrases to still paint a simple lyrical picture. Shane recorded a video for his hit single "illest" in which he dives deep into his personal life to bring us some good music. In its first week, Illest recieved over 2,000 views and counting.
Shane initially wanted to play in the NBA, but after such a good response from his music, he shifted his focus to the music industry. He currently claims he "bugs all the major execs until someone shuts him up by giving him a chance". Although still serving in the military, this doesn't deter him from his goal. He has performed in local shows, battles, etc, and still continues to establish himself as a "different" lyrical artist. Shane draws him music inspiration from rappers such as Andre 3000, J cole, Jay Z, Kanye West, and Common.
