Sigma Chi at FIU was started in the fall semester of 2009. It all began with the determination and knowledge of 15 young men and one man who would strive to have these men become official Sigma Chi brothers. Brett Miller was assigned as the alumni who would be in charge of the group and get them through the whole process while teaching them the history of the Fraternity, and how to run it. The days were never easy and sometimes it seemed as if they could go on no longer, but with the help and support from each other and their leader, Brett Miller. These 15 brave men were Alfredo Rubio, Andrew Desbiens, David Trujillo, Kenny Criollo, Carlton Ng, Elijah Gee, Rafael Perez, Brian Gonzalez, Christian Rosas, Mitun Mitra, Jimmy Vasquez, Jose Garcia, Dirar Abdul Fattah, John Mollin, and Kevin Botten. Unfortunately the the road to success would be to much for some leaving the group with only 12 Men. Two would leave the program and one would come back to complete this task another semester. After the pledge program the 12 remaining members would allow one of the alumni (Rodney Bennett) to join them. He was a brother initiated in Kansas State at the Delta Upsilon chapter and would also prove to be a good asset to the group. His prior knowledge helped the men make their own decision in leading their colony on the pass they wished for it to go.
