Songs From The Blue House are a folk / bluegrass band based in Essex and Suffolk.

History

Formed in 2002, by James Partridge (vocals, guitar) and Shane Kirk (vocals, guitar), following more than a decade of playing and writing together in various guises, Songs From The Blue House are a multi-instrumental band, variously described as folk, country and bluegrass.

Prior to the release of their first, eponymous album, in 2003, they were joined by Richard "Gibbon" Hammond (bass, backing vocals, brass, keyboards), Helen Mulley (vocals, flute), Richard "Fiddly" Lockwood (violin) and Tony Winn (banjo), all of whom still record and play with the band on a regular basis. Up to half a dozen other members have come and gone since the formation of the band [1]

In 2005 their second album, entitled "Too" was released, followed by (in 2007) their third album "Tree", which was their first since signing for High Barn Records.

Trivia

The band's name derives from the colour of the house belonging to two of the band members. It is very blue.
