Hello, reader.

I will tell you something about me. It may put your mind to rest as to my WikiName, dreadpir8robrts, is what it is. Dreadpir8robrts.

The reason I chose the name "dreadpir8robrts" is because, in the movie The Princess Bride, the Dread Pirate Roberts is an interesting character. He is a known as a bloodthirsty pirate and feared the world over. But when he is actually introduced, his name is Ryan, not Roberts. Why? Well, the real Roberts got tired of pirating and (here i quote from a source on Wikipedia, see below) "has been retired 15 years and living like a king in Patagonia". So Roberts passed on his title, The Dread Pirate Roberts, to his second-in-command, who passed it on when he got done pirating, and so on and so forth.

I quote again from a source on Wikipedia. Here is why the ruse worked:

"Westley goes on to explain that the method worked because Roberts's notorious reputation inspired overwhelming fear in sailors. Ships would immediately surrender and surrender their wealth rather than be captured, a fate they imagined to be a certain death sentence. A pirate operating under his own name is said to be incapable of such infamy."



So nobody knew who the Dread Pirate Roberts really was. Except for a select few people, who had been sworn to secrecy.

And so that is why my WikiName is dreadpir8robrts.
