Icewind is a power metal band hailing from the south shore of Montreal, Canada. Founded in 2001 by guitarist Jay Ménard and former bassist Gab Mailloux, but is became official in 2002. The band has since evolved in many ways, in particular, with the release of their first full-length album, All Is Dust.

Icewind was noticed for the first time in 2004, with the release of their demo Inner Storm, which was received with enthusiasm by critics. Since then, the band has taken part in almost twenty shows, mostly in the greater Montreal region. Icewind has notably played at the Boucherville Rock Festival (2005, 2006 and 2007), attracting more than 500 fans to the venue each time.

The band self-produced their two albums Inner Storm and All is Dust. In fact, Icewind called upon two important industry figures to ensure the overall quality of the latter. Didier Chesneau (Melody Studio - Magic Kingdom, Iron Mask, Invictus, Headline) and Mika Jussila (Finnvox Studio - Children of Bodom, Nightwish, Stratovarius) respectively mixed and mastered the album. Thus, Icewind started off 2006 solidly with the release of their first full-length album, which has already gotten good reviews from critics and many great comments from the fans. The hype following the release of All Is Dust enabled the band to open up for major metal acts, such as Dragonforce (Montreal, 04/29/2006 – Le Medley), Gamma Ray (Quebec City, 05/05/2006 – Le Capitole) and After Forever (Montreal, 10/18/2007 – Club Soda)

The band signed with Steelheart Records in Italy, but the label folded soon afterwards and the band was independent. Since then, Icewind has been actively promoting All Is Dust, which enabled the band to ink a deal for the European distribution of the record with the Italian label Underground Symphony in 2007, which was eventually terminated in 2009.
